How to Make a Delicious Cherry Pie with Pastry to Cure any Diabetics "Sweet Tooth"!

Diabetics can enjoy pie too. Here is a diabetic pie recipe for Cherry Pie
and Pie Pastry that is very tasty and is sure to satify your diabetic
"sweet tooth".

CHERRY PIE

Crust:

3/4 cup ice water

1 tsp white vinegar

2 cups all-purpose flour, divided

3 tbsp SPLENDA granular

7 tbsp good quality vegetable shortening

Filling:

2 cans tart red cherries in water; drain but reserve liquid

1/4 cup cornstarch

2/3 cup SPLENDA granular

1/4 tsp almond extract

2 tsp fresh lemon juice

3-4 drops red food coloring, optional

CRUST: Mix ice water and vinegar together in a cup. Place half the flour
in a bowl and add water mixture gradually, using a wire whisk. Mix well.
In a seperate bowl, combine remaining flour and SPLENDA. Add shortening.
Using a pastry cutter or two knifes cut in shortening until mixture is
crumbly. Gradually add the water-flour mixture, adding just enough to
make dough bind together. Divide dough in half and gently pat each half
into a circle on a floured work surface. Cover circles separately with
plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, make filling.

FILLING: Drain cherry liquid through a sieve into a medium-sized
saucepan. Mix cornstarch and SPLENDA together in a small bowl. Pour into
the saucepan and stir well. Add almond extract and lemon juice. Stir and
cook over medium heat. Simmer 3-4 minutes to thicken the sauce. Remove
from heat and add food coloring, if desired. Place cherries in a medium
mixing bowl and pour liquid over them. Gently fold with a spatula to mix
without mashing cherries. Set aside.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 9-inch pie plate with non-stick
cooking spray and set aside.

Roll out 1 dough circle on a floured work surface to 11-inches in
diameter. Place in prepared pie pan. Place filling in crust. Roll
remaining dough circle into a 10-inch diameter and place on top of
filling. Crimp and seal edges. Use a fork to prick the top dough so
steam can escape. Brush crust with milk for golden browning and sprinke
with some slivered almonds if desired.

Bake pie 50-60 minutes or until filling bubbles and crust is golden.
Allow to cool for 1 hour before slicing.

NOTE: A 1/8 piece serving of this pie contains 8 grams of sugar from the
fruit. Fruit pies can be "no sugar added" but they are not sugar-free as
all fruit contains sugar.

constantly until thoroughly cooked. This will take a couple of minutes.

in microwave. Divide the egg mixture and sausage mixture evenly between
the four tortillas. Roll tortillas to wrap around sausage and eggs. For
the smoothies, you toss the ingredients into the blender, blend, and
enjoy. And they are perfect for an on-the-go fruit, juice, and milk
treat.

These smoothies are great for a quick breakfast or anytime you want a
milkshake but realize you should do something healthier.

1 cup fat-free milk
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tbsp vanilla yogurt

1/2 cup chopped peeled mango, frozen

In a blender container, combine all the ingredients, cover and process

HOT ORANGE TEA

1 tea bag
hot water
1 tsp orange juice

Place tea bag into a mug or cup and pour boiling water into the cup. Allow
tea to steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag, pressing out the
liquid. Stir the orange juice and honey into the tea. Garnish with an
orange slice, if desired.

In a Dutch Oven Pot brown meat in canola oil. Add all the remaining

3 beef bouillon cubes

6 medium carrots, quartered

boiling water

4 medium onions, sliced

1/4 cup butter

1 tbsp Splenda granular

2 tbsp chopped parsley

In a large saucepan combine two of the bouillon cubes with the carrots.
Add enough boiling water to cover the carrots; stir to dissolve the
bouillon. Cover pan and cook for 10 minutes. Add the onions and cook
another six minutes or until carrots are just tender; drain.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the third
bouillon cube and the Splenda. Stir until the bouillon is dissolved. Add
the carrot and onion mixture. Cook, stirring frequently, until the
carrots and onions are golden and glazed. Sprinkle with the chopped
parsley just before serving.

Note: This recipe can also be made with chicken bouillon.

DELISH BERRY CRISP

1 cup old-fashion or quick cooking oats

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tbsp Splenda granular

1 1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 cup firmly packed Splenda Brown Sugar Blend

1 stick unsalted butter, softened

5 cups fresh berries ie blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, pitted
cherries, or a combination of more than one.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13-inch pan with nonstick
cooking spray.

In a large bowl, mix together oats, flour, Splenda, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Add brown sugar blend and mix; break up any lumps with the back of your
spoon. Add butter, distributing through the oat mixture, using your
clean hands is the best way, until crumbly. Place the berries in the
bottom of the prepared baking pan. Scatter the oat mixture over the top
of the berries. Be sure to cover the berries evenly. Bake at 350 degrees
for about 40 minutes until the juices begin to bubble around the edges.
The topping should be lightly browned and crisp.

Note: This crisp is really good served warm with vanilla sugar-free ice

1984 – The special effects went wrong when 25-year-old entertainer was
singing his hit "Billie Jean" for a Pepsi Cola commercial in Los Angeles

hair loss what resulted in a major surgery on his scalp after that case.

from Japan for some time. It's not being sold at the best price, which is
what kept me from ordering it. I wouldn't have been best pleased if I had
ordered it, as the UK release of Best Kept Secret has two more tracks on

A friend of mine sent me a sneak preview of the TV ad for Best Kept Secret.
It began with a completely pixelated screen, with an excerpt from a slow
–tempo Leona track (Presumably one off the album). The pixels kept
blinking, slowly revealing the secret identity of a woman as a voice-over
said: "It is the Best kept secret". A caption, reading "BEST KEPT SECRET"
in elegant capital letters appears, then the pixels reveal the secret
they've kept – a still image of Leona Lewis, looking as lovely as ever.
The music kept playing as the best kept secret was revealed. "Leona
Lewis's new album", said the voice in the best traditions of movie trailer
voices. The album cover was revealed, and then the voice said something I
wasn't expecting: "Is only available at secret leona dot com".

I kept playing it to see if I'd missed something, but with the best will
in the world I couldn't see any other logos. Is Best Kept Secret really
only going to be available from a website? Is this really the best way to
market it? I kept being reminded of those 'best of the charts' albums that
were around in the seventies. Could Best Kept Secret actually be some kind
of tribute album?
Had some producer found a secret Leona sound-a-like and kept her hidden
away while they took their best shot at copying Leona? I even wondered if
they selling the album online as the best way to make sure they kept their
little secret a secret? Only when you ordered the album would your best
hopes be dashed when you read the small print that had been kept to the
smallest point size possible. The secret would be out and you'd think that
your money would have been best kept in your pocket. But I was wrong…

Best Kept Secret – The website

I checked out SecretLeona.com and the best I can tell is that the album is
the genuine article. The TV ad plays on the site, but there are no other
previews of what's actually on Best Kept Secret. According to the blurb,
it is a collection of twelve completely original R&B tracks. So it seems
Leona is a secret lover of dance music. I had kept wondering about that –
how someone so young had kept putting out the sort of torch songs normally
associated with older artists. I suppose these songs did show off her
voice to its best advantage – but I always had a secret suspicion that she
probably liked to get 'down and dirty' in secret.

Eager to hear more of what's on Best Kept Secret, I kept trawling the
internet to find more tracks from the album. The best I could do was find
thirty second samples of the tracks, which is hardly enough time to judge
any of them (unless you know the secret of musical extrapolation – which
is a best kept secret in itself). I kept playing the best clips and they
sounded pretty good.
